A Day at Prep

The class day begins at 8:15 and ends at 3:00. Students are in class for six or seven 45 minute class periods with one period for lunch. Few students leave school at 3 o'clock, however, as most are busy with athletics or extracurricular activities. Over 80% of Georgetown Prep students participate in Prep's successful athletic program. Prep encourages all boys, regardless of experience or talent, to join a team. Most Georgetown Prep students also take advantage of two or three extracurricular activities. Whether you have a specific interest, or you just want to get involved and make friends, Prep has a club for you. From the Dramatics Society to the Student Newspaper to the Black Student Union, there is something for everyone at Georgetown Prep!      

Many students come to Prep because our academic program prepares them for entry into the country's most selective and prestigious colleges and universities. This requires that each student spend an average of two to three hours each day studying. Because Prep students take their work seriously, our dress code requires dress shirt, trousers, jacket, tie, and dress shoes during the regular school day.
