Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What does the Gala support?
Money raised at the Gala benefits the scholarships and student activities funds. Approximately 25% of the student body is served by the Gala in some way or another.

How can I purchase a raffle ticket?
Go to the Web site and follow the prompts, respond to the mailing that will be sent out this spring, or call the Gala Office for tickets. There is no limit to the amount of tickets that can be purchased. Only 500 tickets will be sold and winner need not be present to win.

Can anyone purchase an ad?
Yes, personal ads or business ads are graciously accepted and the camera-ready artwork can easily be e-mailed directly to Prep or to the printer. Go to catalog ad links.

What is the latest date that I can donate an auction item?
Auction items can be donated up to the last week of the Gala although due to printing deadlines and time constraints, catalog attributes will not be possible. Every attempt will be made for the donor to be recognized in the addendum.

How many guests can fit at the dinner table?
Each table is designed to accommodate 10 guests, however, in some cases the caterer is able to work in a few larger tables but these larger tables are generally reserved for TABLE BENEFACTORS.

I am new to Prep and would like to attend the Gala but do not know which table and with whom I will be seated?
Fortunately, we have class representatives whose responsibility it is to help Gala guests to find seating with other parents in the same class whose sons share similar interests or activities.

Why do I need to get to the Gala so early?
Besides offering an opportunity for a $1,000 drawing for those guests who arrive by 6 pm., the silent auction goes from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm with sections closing at 7, 7:15 and finally 7:30 pm.

In the silent auction I noticed that you have a place for a guaranteed purchase price. What exactly does that mean?
We believe that if a guest truly wants a particular item then he/she should have the opportunity to purchase it out right by signing their bid number on the last line. That way he/she is free to go about their bidding in the other sections before closing time. This process takes the guesswork out of knowing whether they were the successful bidder or not and gives the bidder more time to bid on other items.
