Parents' Club Mission Statement

The mission of the Georgetown Prep Parents' Club is to support the administration and
faculty of Georgetown Preparatory School in their efforts to form our sons in Prep's
Ignatian tradition as men of competence, conscience, courage and compassion; men of
faith; men for others.

Parents’ Club Activities

The Parents’ Club helps parents to become active members of the Georgetown Prep community. Our Extra-Curricular Committee plans the new Father’s Social that is held in September and the Father-Son Dinner in the spring. The Hospitality Committee organizes the President’s Reception and the Mothers’ Reception in the fall and the Mother-Son Dinner in the spring. They also provide assistance with Prep’s Open House in November. The Garden Club helps to beautify the school by planting flowers in the fall and spring and also design arrangements for such events as the President’s Mass, Reunion Weekend, the Mother-Son Dinner, and the Gala. The Club also decorates Prep for various holidays throughout the year.

The Post Prom Committee plans an alcohol free party after the Prom in May. The Gala Liaisons interact with the Gala Office personnel to keep the Parents’ Club informed of the progress of the school’s most important fundraiser. They also assist the Director of Special Events with the Gala as needed. The Parents’ Council of Washington Liaisons represent Prep at area meetings and also keep us informed of programs available in the greater community for area school parents, students, and administrators.

We publish the Prep Post, our monthly newsletter, and together with the Admissions Office, produce the Student Directory. We maintain telephone trees and e-mail lists for emergency communications. Our Mailings Committee coordinates and sends out invitations to Prep functions and assists with other mailing needs as they arise. Our Past  Parent Liaisons help to organize a Holiday Boutique in the fall and a Mass and brunch in the spring for alumni parents. Our Resident Liaisons assist the Residential Dean with the resident program and facilitate participation of residents and their families in Parents’ Club events. Finally, our Class Networking groups promote educational and social events for parents throughout the year.
