ENTRY ONE
- Write a detailed sketch describing someone you worked with during your project, i.e. a child you helped tutor, a homeless woman you served, an older man in a nursing home you helped with his e-mail. Describe the person's physical features, temperament, and the reason this individual is a client of the agency or program for which you volunteered. Briefly discuss this person's social, cultural, and economic background. Is there a story you can tell about this person? You must submit a visual component with this entry. It may be a picture or drawing of the person you served. You must get the individual's and agency's permission to take photographs. Your visual may be a collage, a cut-out from a magazine, a graphic design or some other visual which ties into this entry. Remember, entry one is worth 50 points.
ENTRY TWO
- For entry two imagine that you're writing an article for The Little Hoya. In this entry you are to describe how you have been affected by your service project. Here you might describe what were the more trying or challenging features of your project. What were the more enjoyable aspects? How were you affected by the people and the agency for which you worked? Which of your gifts were you able to utilize? Did you feel frustrated, insecure, vulnerable? Did you discover stereotypes or prejudices within you which you were surprised to find? The visual for this entry
might be a drawing. painting, collage, cut-out, computer designed image, etc. which helps to explain your overall service project experience. The visual is not about the service project per se; rather it is about your experience of the service project. Remember entry two is also worth 50 points.
